Most fuel pumps will make fuel pressure but will not suck the fuel very well so the pressure in the tank is a important part of the fuel delivery system.I would think just about any one way valve would work like what Doug did sounds fine.

Okay, rule out vent valve. I had the advantage of a scanner. I could take the cap off, blow air in tank, nothing changed the sensor reading. The sensor was aftermarket, probably came with the fuel tank unit. i had some spares in my tool box, so I threw one in and rechecked. Pressure sensor readings returned to normal. A Tank Vent Valve should allow air to enter the tank to replace the volume of fuel volume exiting the tank without allowing fuel to be lost through the vent system. In our design, should any fuel enter the valve, the hollow plastic ball will float on the fuel and seal the valve.
Fuel Tank Vent Valve I have an injection tank and the Caterham aero filler neck assembly. My understanding is that (on the smallest of the ports on the neck assembly) you connect a small piece of hose, which has a one-way valve attached.
